Here are the rules and regulations of Final Fantasy Insight. You must abide by this rules as any rule breaking will result in you receiving an official warning, and possibly to your permanent expulsion from Final Fantasy Insight.
RulesSpammingFinal Fantasy Insight takes a dim view of people spamming on the boards. Whilst different forums have different views of what spam consists of, here is how Final Fantasy Insight sees it.
- Short-posting - we require that all posts form at least one sensible and contributing sentence which is longer than five words. Any post shorter than this, or using meaningless words, smileys or symbols to make up for it will be instantly warned.
- Off-topic posting - Final Fantasy Insight is marginally generous in how we allow off topic comments on the forums. Just straying off the purpose of the topic will not warrant a warning if the subject of off-topicness is actually linked in some way to the topic at hand. However, if you go from one topic and change it completely, you will be warned.
- Spam topics - if someone posts a topic which is just a spam-hole, they will be warned. Not only this, but anyone taking part in this topic will also be warned. If you wish to bring the topic to the moderator's attention, please use the "Report" button available under any post on the forum in order to get it noticed.
- Advertising - recently, more and more sites are being plagued with "robots" trying to advertise various products (usually of a pornographic content). The people posting them will face an automatic ban, and anyone posting in the topics will be warned. Please follow the reporting method highlighted in the previous point to deal with advertising threads.
People advertising other sites also fall into this category, if you wish to post an advert to someone's site, please do it in your signature, or in the dedicated Student Exchange at Relm's Studio. - Bumping - deliberately bumping your topic if it is not active is generally frowned upon. However, Final Fantasy Insight WILL allow you to do so as long as the topic is seven days old without any replies in that time. However, after one month, we feel you should just re-create a topic instead of trying to bump it. If you try to bump a topic which is over a month old you will be warned.
Please note that the current Bumping Rule will not be enforced until the forums are active enough to warrant putting it in place.
Offensive/Innapropriate Behaviour- Flaming/Trolling - you are not permitted to insult/offend people on this forum. Any offensive or threatning behaviour concerning someone's tastes, likes/dislikes, opinions, gender, sexual preference, racial background, etc... will not be tolerated and you will receive a warning. Any topic created entirely for the purpose of someone to flame or troll someone will be closed immediately, and anyone taking part in the topic will be warned.
- Pornography - whilst we have a policy restricting people under the age of 13 joining Final Fantasy Insight in order to encourage openness and discussion of somewhat more mature discussion, we will not tolerate posts containing pornographic material of any kind.
- Harrassment - we view personal harrassment of people via the Private Messaging system as unnacceptable behaviour. Personal harrassment covers both people being offensive or innapropriate, but also people sending out requests to visit certain sites.
Accounts- Multiple Accounts - we do not tolerate anybody having more than one account on the forum. If a user is discovered to have more than one account, all duplicate accounts will be banned, except for the one which is the most active. The person with multiple accounts will receive a warning for every extra account they had, if this ends up with a ban, then so be it.
If you were to have a duplicate account for an "honourable" reason, such as you not being able to log-in, or the account not working, you will still be penalised. This is not a way to deal with the problem. You can get in touch with members of the moderation team to sort this out, either by visiting the Final Fantasy Insight chat, or checking the contact form on the main site in order to submit a question directly to the staff.
Grammar- Spelling/1337 - we do understand that English may not be your first language and that you may not be able to spell everything correctly. However, no one needs to be subjected to things like "i h8 u, u r idt", please ensure that you spell things as correctly as possible.
- Grammar - again, we understand that English may not be your first language, or that you may have learning difficulties, but please try to ensure you use an almost correct grammatical construction. It doesn't have to be perfect, but full stops and commas really help to make reading a lot easier.
Theft- Theft - being a fansite for a major game, you often find that people submit a lot of fan work, in many different forms. We will not tolerate the theft of property belonging to other people, and members will be warned for stealing other people's work.
- Plagiarism - in a similar vein, we will not tolerate the plagiarism of either Final Fantasy Insight's or it's members intellectual property, including, but not limited to any content provided on the main site and original graphic-work and design.
SpoilersIt is hard to define a spoiler, so at Final Fantasy Insight we define spoilers as the following:
the revealing of an aspect of the game which wasn't revealed before the game's release. Spoilers don't include things like location and enemy names, as long as they don't reveal aspects of the story itself, obviously the revealing of the storyline is a spoiler. Upon the release of a game, we will allow the public posting of anything contained within the opening movie/sequence, and in-game shots which do not contain any spoilers, but not of anything else. In order to avoid spoilers inside a topic, please use the built in spoiler tags:
CODE
[spoiler]INSERT TEXT HERE[/spoiler]
- Topic titles - we will not allow the posting of spoilers within topic titles (except on a spoiler forum), if you are to post a potential spoiler within a topic, please type *SPOILER* at the beginning of a title.
- Content - we want Final Fantasy Insight to be a welcoming community for as many different people as possible. Therefore, upon the release of a game, we will not tolerate people spoiling games for those who don't want to have details of the game revealed, and to further this, specialist spoiler forums will be created for people to post in.
- Images - again, to prevent people not wanting games spoilt, images considered spoilers (see above) will not be allowed for public viewing on the board, or within people's avatars or signatures.
- Time Limit - the spoiler rules will no longer apply on Final Fantasy Insight a month after the game has been released in European territories. In the unlikely (but always possible) event that a game is released in Europe before either America or Japan, the spoiler rule will apply until the game's release in its last territory.
Avatars and SignaturesAll rules set out in this topic also apply to avatars and signatures.
- Avatars - avatars must be 100x100 pixels in size or less.
- Signatures - in a signature, other than text, you are allowed one large image (500x300 pixels or less), and 4 smaller buttons of 250x50.
- Total - all together, the height of your signature must not be excessive. Obviously this depends on the size of people's resolutions until I get around to *coughcoughredesignthelayoutcoughcough*, so for now just play be ear.
WarningsAny rule breaking will result in an official Final Fantasy Insight warning. And you are to respect the reason for your warning, and heed it in order to not receive another. Consequences of any warning you receive is as follows.
- 1st Warning - this is merely a "friendly" warning, you will not suffer any repercussions from having this warning.
- 2nd Warning - again this acts as a friendly warning, however, the moderation team will be keeping their eyes on you more carefully.
- 3rd Warning - you will receive a minimum three-day account suspension. The exact length of suspension you do receive is based at the discretion of the person warning you, and can be as short (with a minimum period of three days) or as long (less than two weeks) as they see fit.
- 4th Warning - with this warning you will receive an account suspension of at least seven days. Again the person warning you will decide upon the length of time they personally see as appropriate, but will be no longer than four weeks.
- 5th Warning - this warning is the last you receive, upon the receipt of your fifth warning, your account on Final Fantasy Insight will be terminated, and you will no longer be able to access the forums.
A warning's duration will be determined by a staff member when they issue you with a warn, and after that time has passed, you can apply for the warn to be removed at the
Warn Removal thread.
Please familiarise yourselves with all these rules, as they are essential to your time here at Final Fantasy Insight.
